Obituary for Blanca Guerra

On March 2nd we were all shocked to hear the news that our beloved Mother, Blanca Guerra, had suddenly passed. Born on April 2nd, 1938, the Daughter of Maria Luzmila Sanchez and Luis Antonio Guerra. The Mother of four children Paulina, Alex, Santiago and Christian and Grandmother to Matthew, Samira, Fabian and Gali. Sister of Luis, Carlos, Gladys, Angelita, Azucena, Vicente, Adela, Marco and predeceased by her Brothers Fausto and Gonzalo and Sisters Yolanda and Rene. Mother in Law to Tom Galda and Elke Quevedo.

Blanca was a woman that was filled with a love for life, an unshakable spirit, an undaunted determination, and a seemingly unending passion for her children and family. She was first and foremost a dedicated Mother and Grandmother, treasuring every moment with her Family

There were struggles that were met with an unwavering positive attitude and life’s hurdles that never slowed her down. To her last days she loved exercising and dressing to always be her fashionably best self, reading on the benches of Union Square Park, to Dance and laugh with Family and Friends, and taking endless walks exploring the wonders of a sunlit New York City.

A Spiritual woman who believed that almost all actions in Life have both a reason and a consequence. Throughout our childhood and following into our Adult years she used her experiences, disappointments, highlights and joys to continually impart parcels of wisdom to help us make sense of an ever-changing world. She will be deeply missed but always remembered with Love and Reverence for all that she gave to make us all who we are today and for that we are forever grateful.

Madelyn Hamilton

Doña Blanca, You've always been a woman full of love for her family, full of love for God and love for life. Peace be with you in paradise. I pray for a divine peace and a protective cover over Paulina, Chtistian, Alex and Santiago and the rest of the immediate family feeling your absence. Saddened by your passing I think of the many days you fed me, and welcomed me into your home as if I was one of your own children. I never really had the chance to formally say Thank You. You made a significant impact in my life.
