Lewis Speaks-Tanner

Timothy J Tanner, age 49, resident of Jersey City, NJ, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 9th.

Both of his parents, Raymond and Bea, predeceased him as all his grandparents. He is survived by his brother, Lewis Speaks-Tanner and brother-in-law, Ben; his sister, Patti Delisle; niece Shawna King and husband Chuck, and niece Casey McClure as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Although born in Toms River, NJ, he considered Wallingford, VT his hometown where he lived most of youth. After graduating from Mill River Union High School, he went to Rutgers University and received his Bachelors. As an adult, Tim resided in NJ, NYC, CA and back in NJ where he wanted to be closer to family.

After graduating college, he was elevated to a manager in B. Dalton Booksellers. He realized that retail was not for him and he changed careers a few times before landing in the tech world where he worked for Fidessa (Ion Group) for the last ten years in NYC, San Francisco and Jersey City, NJ.

His loves and hobbies included travel, photography, dancing. music, movies, bowling, and hanging out with his friends locally and on vacation in Provincetown. He did have a love of houseplants and if he was away, friends needed to take special care.

He loved his dog Bailey, a rescue dog adopted while living in CA. He taught her various tricks and was always willing to show others all her talents either on FaceTime or in person.

He will be missed by co-workers, friends and most of all his family. He was fiercely loyal to all those he loved.

Viewing is Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 2 - 5 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Provenzano Lanza Funeral Home, 43 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10003
